So here in our lovely home filled with wonderful furry creatures we had an unexpected new arrival. A while back we adopted 6 very sweet ratties from someone who didn't want them anymore. He was keeping 5 females and one male in the same small cramped cage. We went to pick them up and 2 had given birth by the time we got there, and 2 of the other females were very very pregnant and gave birth shortly after being here. The oldest female was too old to have babies so she was the only one to not have a litter. We could not rehome any of the babes because we couldn't find any homes to adopt them so we kept them. I must have made a mistake in the sexing of the babes because a female ended up in the males cage. She gave birth about 4 days ago to 5 healthy babies. We are calling them the oops babies. But they are all doing very well and growing very big and strong. So even though they are unexpected they are welcome in our home to be loved and spoiled rotten with treats, large cagies, and plenty of cuddles.
